One of the great thing about Web 2.0 is all the amazing tutorials that are out there for us crafters. Here are 10 places to find awesome FREE craft tutorials that I’ve come across recently. These could be great tools for making homemade gifts or a li’l somethin’ somethin’ for yourself!!
- The amazing Amy Butler is now offering free patterns for download! There’s a button you can click at the bottom of her home page. If you know who she is, you’ll think this is awesome, otherwise check her out and you’ll see why she’s awesome!
- Peptogirl is starting a series called “Handmade for the Holidays,” starting with this cute button ring tutorial! She's had several fun ones since and I’d check back to see what else she posts in the future; I know I’m going to.
- Just Tutes has a lot of great “tutes” (hence the name), like this adorable skirt.
- The Purl Bee always has great tutorials; here’s one for adorable homemade fabric beach balls, and some coasters . I made a set of these for my mother-in-law for her birthday this year. Very simple & cute.
- I can’t wait to try this Molly Monkey Doll for my daughter, Chiquita, from Craftzine.
- I’m always bookmarking tutorials from Sew, Mama, Sew’s blog. Here’s a cute idea for holding down your picnic blanket, and an adorable child’s swim robe.
- If bathtime is your thing, here are a few recipes for yummy homemade sugar scrubs from Healthy & Green Living.
- I still plan to try out this sun hat pattern for a certain little someone from about.com’s sewing page.
- U-handbag must know how ghetto my old ironing board cover is, since she posted this new cover tutorial.
- I just finished this sewing machine cover right now (by Not Nigella); they have lots more at Craftblog too.
It was easy to make and free for me because I made it with one of my favorite fabrics in my stash (from Ikea). I used my favorite simple decorative stitch (I call it a ric-rac stitch) along the bottom.
There are a million more tutorials out there so start searching. Chances are, you can find a one for what you want to make, and probably for free!
Please share any favorites or future projects you’ve found in the comments or over at the forum!
