i thought of you when waiting for my take out mexican lunch. a woman was leaving the restaurant in a tan business suit and leopard print shoes. you know me, i had to say "awesome shoes!" she smiled and talked to us for a few moments about signature pieces. see, no matter what you think, i do listen! (sometimes i simply choose to ignore, but i do listen.)

regarding what angel said...the bigger the hoop, the smaller the hip!!! i'm looking for pierced hula hoops.

I just started making jewelry and it is one of those hobbies that not only is relaxing to immerse myself in after a stressful day, but also leaves me with super cute accessories tailored to my style. Yay! Two birds with one stone is the only way I accomplish anything lately, ha!

I'm really bottom heavy, so I find that if I use attention-grabbing accessories up near my face, it makes the wide load on the south side a little less noticeable.

No wonder I look like a dork most of the time. I've been doing it all wrong!

Thanks for the hints. I'm totally printing this and sticking it in my closet.

I never forget Coco Chanel's advice about accessories: Before you leave the house, take one thing off.

Which, of course, goes with your ONE statement piece rule.

I always know what looks good on Motley who, even though she is tall, is big breasted and has hips and a tiny waist. So low rise stuff doesn't often flatter her. All the cool belts and beads look fussy on her. So she listens to Mom mostly, and ends up looking better than her peers.

As for me, I'm not much for accessories or colors. When not wearing the company colors for work, I wear black, white, grey, red, pink, and sometimes a little blue. I wear black and pink a lot because the pink flatters my aging skin. The only accessories I wear any more are all jewelry: classic Tiffany padlock pendant, Dooney & Bourke bracelet with pink stones, my rings from my DH which are all silver. My ears are the only odd thing and that's because of my double helix and other piercings in my left ear. Those are all gauged earrings in sterling or colored titanium.

See? I'm easy but complicated, and no fashion statement. OH! Except for my glittery hot pink flip flops that wear everywhere except work. HEH.

I like the first bit of advice: one bold accessory with classic/flattering clothing.

I do wish we could return to the days of a single strand of pearls making an outfit just -work-... Pearls, even if I could afford a strand, just don't go with much of what I wear...

I like the idea of ONE signature piece. I have a large silver chunky bracelet that I use as my "signature" piece.

I hope silver is still in....it is right Britt?
