Greetings, Stylish Ones! I'm Jenny Rapson, the new editor of the Blissful Style channel here at Blissfully Domestic. One of my goals as editor is to feature stylish, affordable clothing and beauty products that our readers can actually go out and buy without breaking the bank. So, I'm going to make these Affordably Chic articles a series and in this first one, I'll be featuring beautiful, reasonably priced outerwear to keep you warm this winter.
Before you buy a winter coat this season, consider these three things that will make your outerwear stand out in a crowd.
1. Pattern
Patterned coats really make a bold fashion statement. If you pair them with a different pattern on your pants or skirt, they'll make the wrong statement, so opt for solids on the bottom with a patterned coat.
I love this houndstooth number by Bitten SJP, available at Steve & Barry's. It was recently featured on Oprah with a price tag of only $19.98!! However, at my local store, the price was $29.98. Scandalous, but still a steal for a stylish winter coat!
2. Color
Winter is drab and gray enough, so fight seasonal mood disorder with a bright-colored coat! You'll be warm, colorful eye-candy in red, purple, or even yellow this winter. I love this bright blue wool coat from Old Navy. It's affordably chic at just $89.50.
3. Detail
If I see one more boxy, bulky peacoat this winter I might die of boredom. This season, purchase outerwear with sophisticated details to spice up your look. Large buttons, high collars, and flared sleeves are all stylish details to look for. While I'm not thrilled with the color, I absolutely love, love, love the bell sleeves on this Covington coat, available at Sears for a very affordable $69.00.
With the right, pattern, color, or detail, your outerwear is sure to sizzle this winter season! What's your favorite place to score fashionable, reasonably priced coats? Share your secrets in the Blissfully Domestic Forums!
