Courteney Cox has signed on for an ABC pilot called Cougar Town. In the comedy series Cox will play a newly divorced middle-aged mother on the prowl.
Bill Lawrence, the creator and one of the writers for the comedy Scrubs, is cowriting the pilot. "Forty-year-old women on TV are so beautiful and perfect and wrinkle-free," said Lawrence, who first worked with Cox when he was a writer on "Friends." "People don't do the reality of it, and there is a real comedy area about a woman who is talking about Botox, about having sex with the lights on and how her body is changing."
Cougar Town is expected to air in the 2009-2010 season.
