We put up wall decals (the berry tree from Zozo living) in our little girl’s room and these have been up there quite some time now. They look stunning. Sure, these cost a wee bit more than $2, but still.. good value for money so far.

My favorite cheap wall art solution is to get art books (either buy them used on Amazon or get them for free on PaperBackSwap), cut out the pictures, and then put them in cheap frames from Wal*Mart. If you watch the sales you can get frames for under $2!

I love the idea of hanging things up with spray starch. I bought some wall decals for Miss Baby’s room at Tar-jay. But I have to say they are already starting to peel off in spots.

Our great decorating tip – we lived in a rental apartment that had the most hideous paneling in the living room as well as a mirrored wall. We went to Home Depot and bought the big canvas dropcloths that professional painters use. Plain, natural fabric. We could use nails in the walls, so we tacked the cloths up and voila! Cream colored walls. then we actually did this fabric over canvas trick to decorate. It looks fantastic!

My favorite, cheap, wall decoration is to stick fabric up with spray starch. I’ve used strips in my kitchen as a border, and cut out large prints and used them as wall decals. We did my niece’s nursery in Winnie the Pooh, and cut out characters, balloons, etc. from quilt panels and made a mural. It’s really easy to put up, and easy to take down! Just wipe the wall down with water when you take them down, and you’re good to go.
