This is my wallet.
Cute, huh? So in vogue…What? You don't agree?
As you can tell, my husband and I are on the Dave Ramsey "cash system," which is great for our budget, but not for my style. I decided it was time to fix that. And because I have searched the world over for another option, and have come up empty handed, I decided to transform what I've already got. This mini file is available all over the place; you shouldn't have trouble finding one.
Any fabric will do, but I got out my oilcloth (I am amazed at how easy it is to work with!), and traced around my "wallet."
Then I simply cut it out, a little smaller than my markings, so that I could slide the oilcloth under the red edging that was already on the envelope. Then, using matching red thread, I attached the oilcloth. I was sure to stay very close to the edge while sewing, so that it would catch the fabric underneath. I didn't even have to change the needle on my machine, it went through the oilcloth and plastic without any problems.
It might look impossible to sew the section where the actual files are, but it was simple. I bent them back and when I was done, they popped right back in place.
Isn't that so much better? Now I won't be ashamed when I am checking out at the grocery store and have to dig through my cash!

Dave Ramsey actually sells "envelope system" wallets, and they're not that expensive.
But they're not as cute as yours, either. lol

You amaze me. I NEVER would have thought of doing this. And if I saw you with your "wallet" I would have been so jealous and been hunting stores all over town trying to figure out where you bought it. =0)
