Sometimes, it is the simple things, the things right under our nose,
that can create the loveliest of decorations to spruce things up around our home.
Do you have a favorite bowl or jar sitting around empty? Fill it up with apples or wooden eggs for Spring. Little pumpkins or nuts for fall. Ornaments for winter.
Maybe you have a collection of items: old doorknobs, napkin rings or game pieces. It's amazing how lovely even the simplest of items can become when resting in a lovely container.
What do you have in your home that is calling out to be showcased in such a way?

Displaying fruit in our home has lead to a whole revolution of EATING THE FRUIT that is brought into the house! I think the kids like the "hands off" aspect of displaying fruit, as though it is forbidden. The creative mommy side of me has started adding veggies to the displays and yup, you guessed it, they have started eating those as well!!
BONUS!!!!
Oh, I love these ideas!
You rock at the whole "decorating" thing!!
Wanna come decorate my house? hee hee
Took out all the silver colored monopoly pieces & showcased them on a bookcase with all the other silver colored pieces.
Great Idea; I love the napkin rings! I agree that most anything, when grouped together, can create great visual interest. Rather than scatter my baskets or glass jars all over my home, I grouped them together, and it made a much bigger impact.
Love these ideas! I'll have to try this sometime.
This is really cute! Love your site Karla! Don't forget to link Shannon or you will be deleted!
very nice! now to find a collection!
I love stuff like this! That bowl is beautiful, I need to find something like that. I always want a nice centerpiece like that, and can never find anything that I really like out of my stuff. I think a bowl like that has been what I have been looking for. Thanks for helping me realize it
I have to mention that I adore taht BOWL! Where in the world did you get it? I would fill it with lemons and limes.

Pretty ideas!
Now I'm in the mood to go decorate.
I agree with Beachmom that fruits rock as a decorating item. And as the seasons change, different fruits are available, changing the colors and textures you display. I'm sad to see citrus go (I love tangerines) but now berries are getting inexpensive.
The best part is when the bowl/basket is empty, you know you've been eating healthy!
