Last week I set a goal to merely walk around my neighborhood ONE time. Did I do this? No. Do I have anything resembling an excuse? No.
Rather than focus on my failure, I'm going to focus on my spare tire that I've decided to put around my waist and carry around. Instead of moaning and groaning about it, I'm going to do something RADICAL.
I'm going to go do 10 sit-ups before writing the rest of this post.
Hang tight. I'll be right back.
Okay! Not only did I do 10 sit-ups, I did THREE sets of 10 sit-ups! Goooooooooo me! See, self? That wasn't so hard and although it feels like the muscles in your stomach are turning inside out, it was WORTH IT, even if only to FINALLY accomplish ANY fitness goal.
Last week, Chastity left me a comment that made me think. She told me about the Push-up plan where you add one more push-up to your routine than the day before, working up to 100 push-ups. Easy (well as easy as push-ups are), right? I can DO this.
To take it a step farther and apply it to sit-ups, I figure I could add one more sit-up to each set, eventually getting to 100 sit-ups total. Since I actually don't mind sit-ups and I can do them with my kids playing next to me or while watching TV, I figure these two little, itty bitty things are something I could do and make them a part of my daily routine.
Now if I could just get in that walk around the neighborhood.

Great post! I am all about sneaking fitness in where I can. I think it's the easiest way for busy moms (I guess I could quit at moms, right?) to increase their activity level and feel stronger and more fit. I do calf raises while I brush my teeth, situps and planks while my daughter is playing in the evening (sometimes she even "helps") and squats while I wash my hair in the shower (ok, maybe a little weird there, but it's true).
Thanks for the good idea, I'm going to try it!
GOOD FOR YOU! You make us proud
Every time I try start to work out and fit exercise in my life Honey likes to remind me that everyone has to start somewhere. It doesn't matter how many sit-ups someone else can do. You only have to be concerned with how many you are doing.
Baby steps. Baby steps are a great way to approach exercise.
You go girl! My husband keeps telling me to take baby steps. Now only if I find the motivation to take that first step. This might be it.
