Encouraging Kids to Have a Healthy Attitude About Food

Food_fruit_face

I wish my kids begged for veggies and essential proteins like they do ice cream and French fries.  While in general they do eat fairly well, given a choice they'd take pizza over broccoli everyday.  I get that, but I want them to develop a healthy attitude towards food…sure, it's yummy and comforting, but it's most important role is nourishing our bodies.  That's a hard concept for most kids.  Let's face it, it's hard for most adults! I've found a few websites that can be helpful in striking that balance for you and  your children:

Informative article about having regular family meals.

Great tips on healthy snacks.

Fabulous article about how to talk (and NOT to talk) about weight issues with your child.

Advice on how to be a healthy eating role model.

And a few amazing tips on how your toddler can help in the kitchen.

Now if only I could find a site that made French Onion Chip Dip and Cheesecake super healthy, we'd be all set!

I hate trying to get my son to eat his veggies, much less like them. Here are some handy-dandy tips.

  5. I find it funny because my 8 month old loves vegetables but my 22 yr old (husband) HATES them…I use this recipe book (everything tastes wonderful!) "Deceptively Delcious" by Jessica Seinfeld. She 'hides' vegetables in her recipes. Best chocolate chip cookies ever, hands down (with chickpeas in them!!)

Will you see the new Twilight movie New Moon on Friday?
