Thank goodness for free hotel Wi-Fi! Here are five new and unexpected ways the internet can improve your next vacation:

1. Relax, Maybe Even Get Some Sleep (It is vacation, right?)
Drown out noisy hotel neighbors with iSerenity's selection of white noise sound files. Drift off to the sound of fans, waves, whales, or even "rhythm of a restaurant," among others.

Do As One's Universal Breathing Room calms you down when your flight is delayed for the third time. Breathe in. Breathe out.

2. Wake up!
Who needs a wake up call? With Kukuklock, an online alarm clock, you choose your alarm: rooster, classic alarm bell, or even Slayer guitar. The site says that once loaded, the alarm will work even if the internet connection doesn't.

3. Find your way around unknown territory.
It's amazing what Google Maps can do. Create a map of the area around your hotel and add clickable links to nearby restaurants and attractions. Add public transportation maps, and you're good to go!

4. Get a good meal.
See a restaurant that looks interesting? A quick search turns up hours of business, cost, and menus at the restaurant's website. Read about local faves in the dining section of the local newspaper.

5.  Be prepared.
Weather.com's Sports and Recreation channel lets you check ski conditions, get the surf forecast, and even check the weather at the golf course.

Check the weather and check for traffic jams and flight delays before you hit the road with Flightview.com and Traffic.com.
