Breast milk is best. The message should not be sent to moms to "plan" on starting with formula. I feel that this is what happens with these marketing schemes. I don't particularly like being marketed to, and I prefer some privacy when my family is growing. If you end up formula feeding or supplementing, the checks from the formula companies can be helpful, but I found generic formula a better overall value. That said, I recently participated in this freebie from Playtex - for a BPA-free bottle.
