Frugal Links: The Story of Stuff

Intheader

My link this week is to the short (20 min.) movie The Story of Stuff

Although The Story of Stuff is not necessarily about living frugally, I think it is a must view for anyone who truly wants to spend and buy less.  It is slightly political and definitely fanatical, but it is incredibly true.  I especially appreciate the focus on the spending cycle- watch advertisements, buy stuff, work harder to watch advertisements, etc..

An incredibly important part of creating a truly frugal and simple lifestyle is learning to say "no", and learning the difference between true needs and perceived needs.

This movie is a great start.

  1. I am SUCH a fan of The Story of Stuff! It can be life-changing. I agree that the chapter on consumerism was the most eye-opening to me. It is SO worth the twenty minute investment of time. Thanks for posting this!
