Some other ideas: visit the library often (we go 1-2 days a week), give your kids ample access to books (they both have full bookshelves in their room and we keep a large box of them in the car) and limit TV viewing. Also, look for books on topics that interest your child whether it's ballet, baseball or dinosaurs. We’ve read to our girls from a very young age and they both love books.
