I'll be honest, I thought the book was really terrible. I even tried to start book 2 but gave up 30 pages in because it was so bad. I'm sure HBO will glam it up so that it is really fun to watch, but as for the books....yikes. I suppose I should admit that I've never been a big fan of mystery books in the first place. Nevertheless, I'm proud for Ms. Harris for making it big with HBO! Way to go! I read the first book in the series because the author also graduated from my alma mater, Rhodes College. First episodes of new series are always kind of hard because they have SOOOOO much to introduce. I need some new reading material so I've been thinking I'll pick up the series. I wanted to test out the eReader for iPhone anyway and the books are fairly inexpensive for that platform! I'm glad Robin mentioned the NPR interview with the show's creator. It was kind of interesting to hear his perspectives on the characters. I had considered writing recaps of the series for BD, but after someone got upset over my recap of Kitchen Nightmares, I'm a little scared to write them now!
