How do I love thee reusable bag? Let me count the ways…
I love thee for thy strength and durability and convenience.
I love thee for thy carrying ease and saving grace thee provideth our environment.
I love thee with a determined passion that I shall never again place my organic blueberries, low fat milk, and Ben and Jerry's ice cream into a plastic bag.
Ok, ok, I will stop for both our sakes. I admit that I am no Elizabeth Barrett Browning but I do love my reusable bags for many reasons.
I love them for helping me do my part to save the streams, lakes, trees, and animals from the toxins that leach into the ground when plastic bags photodegrade (read this article from National Geographic).
I love them for their sturdiness. I can fill them to the brim and not worry about them tearing and my apples (or something more embarrassing) rolling across the parking lot.
I love them for helping save a wild animal from dying after mistakenly consuming a plastic bag (read this article from Reusablebag.com).
I love them for their convenience.
- I can fold them up and put them in my purse so I always have one with me.
- I can take them with me for all kinds of shopping; shoes, clothes, groceries, fruit stand, used book store, etc.
- I can use them to tote around the miscellaneous things that my kids claim they need for a simple 3 mile trip to the store (books, dolls, crayons, extra shoes, water, food, etc…)
I love that by using reusable bags I am preventing hundreds of plastic bags from being used (Read this article from squidoo).
I love that my kids can easily carry the groceries in; sometimes without complaining (which I am sure is directly related to the reusable bag).
I love thee reusable bag with my bread, cheese, and brown eggs….and, if ReusableBags.Com choose, I shall love thee better after your colored.
Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Do you use reusable bags? If not, pick one up at your local grocery store and let me know how you like it. Share your thoughts via the comment section. You can find Lena trying to teach her children how to save the planet one plastic bag at a time at OverCoffee. |

I LOVE my reusable bags!! I've made a couple of my own, have a couple from Target and a couple from IKEA.
Yesterday, I was shopping and realized I had to hit the grocery store, so I grabbed the bags I got from the mall (totally spur of the moment shopping and bags at home!!) and used those instead! I probably got a couple of odd looks using Stride Rite and Williams Sonoma bags for my groceries, but I didn't use plastic!!!!
I'm going to wrap all my Christmas gifts in homemade bags this year, just to spread the love!
Thanks for this post. Reusable bags are one of my favorite ways to go green. I have tons of them. They look better, carry more, are easier to carry, and so much more.
P.S. I have a giveaway for a super cute one on my blog right now.
I never thought about making reusable bags and giving them as gifts. Thanks for the great idea!
Great blog site Lisa. I entered both giveaways! One can never have too many reusable bags.
Hi Lena, I am a big believer in the reusable bags also. I have several and use "other store brands" at different stores. They are so strong and sturdy and convenient. I have a fold up one in my purse also. When a friend of mine had her birthday this summer, I "wrapped" her gift in a Fred Meyer cloth bag, because she hadn't gotten any yet!
Thanks for the great "gift wrapping" idea. I think that is a fun way to get friends and family members hooked on reusable bags…
I am also a BIG fan of the reuseable bags. I go shopping and no matter how much I buy, which is always more than I went for, I have enough bags. I have one with me at all times now.
I had to stop one day after work and had forgotten to put one in my purse so before I shopped I had to look for one. The store I went to was being remodeled and I couldn't find one to buy. I even asked for help and they couldn't find it either. I went next door and found one there bought it then continued my original shopping.
They are great.
