I didn't worry overly much about socialization with my daughters. But I did find that taking advantage of "free" children activities was great. We used the public library's Children Program to it's fullest. Our library even has something called Super Science Saturday - and right now they have college kids coming and teaching it, so it is really awsome. This Saturday they are doing "Temperature" as the theme. Sometimes they have crafts, special lectures, and fun nights. Our local Micheals, Lowes, and Barrons books have kids activities at least once a month - a few cost a $1 or so for supplies. And we take advantage of many of our church programs. My eldest has even written plays that the kids have then acted for a Sunday Night service. We are also involved in AWANA at my sister's church - which gives them a secons set of kids to be around.
We did try to join the local homeshcool group - but since I don't drive, we never seemed to be able to join in on anything.
