One afternoon I walked into a conversation my four and five year old daughters were having about how to draw different animals. Their discussion reminded me of the great resource we have in books by Ed Emberley. I took out two of our favorites, Ed Emberley’s Drawing Book of Animals and Ed Emberley’s Drawing Book: Make A World, out for them to look through. Before long they were both completely engaged in carefully following each step for making everything and anything they could think up. They were able to draw independently and both felt very proud of their creations!

OMG! I used that Ed Emberley’s Drawing Book of Animals when I was a kid! I thought I recognized the owl from your daughter’s drawing — nicely done to the both of them!
My 5 year old son loves Ed’s books. I think he needs another one for Christmas.
Thanks so much for reminding me of Ed Emberley’s books. I love them as a kid!
