My Favorite Gifts, Of Course, They are for my Home!

It’s almost my birthday and like every other Domestic Diva,
I am interested in a gift that keeps on giving (not that I would turn down a
pair of diamond earrings, mind you…)

What have I asked for this year? A new area rug for our bedroom. Our old one is cranberry color and really
pretty, but it picks up every single hair our white kitty sheds and apparently,
she rolls all around the room every day. Ideally I’d love a tan or beige frieze (shag in older terms).

Now, I am really a Gardening/Interior Diva, and I am not
particular if we do an indoor/outdoor gift.

Other birthday/anniversary gifts in the past have included:

· A beautiful outdoor teak bench that sits in my
garden

·

· Painting the bathroom

· Beautiful sheets for our bed

· A handbuilt deck for our backyard by my adorable
Trophy Husband

· A different handbuilt deck for our backyard
(built by the same loving hands as above)

· A comfy set of outdoor rattan furniture for our
screen porch (my absolute favorite room!)

For Mother’s Day, the gardener in me is roaring to be set
free, so I am ALL about my garden in May. I really like to go to brunch with
The Trophy Husband and our Darling Daughter and then stop by my favorite
nursery and browse until I find something I can’t live without. This year’s “must have” was 2 butterfly
bushes. I would show you a photo, but
they aren’t doing all that well in their spots, so I am going to cut them back
and see if they are re-born next year.

When I told my Trophy Husband that I wanted a rug, I saw
relief in his eyes (I think he was afraid I was going to say “paint the
house!”) but what he doesn’t realize is that the new rug will lead to new paint
in that room, new bedding and window treatments…it’s going to be a lovely and
decorative fall in our bedroom! I really
like this bedding from a new JC Penny line.
