New to DVD is Leatherheads. A comedy center around Dodge Connelly, played by George Clooney, a tough, egocentric football player. When the team loses its sponsorship and heads for ruin, Dodge pulls out all the stops to keep the team he loves from ending. Add into the mix a feisty reporter, played by Renee' Zellweger, who grabs Dodge's eye and his hands become quickly full. The movie has many twists and turns – not unlike a football game — and in the end Dodge sees that there is more to life than scoring touch downs. The movie is rated PG-13 for strong language and it runs for 114 minutes.

While you have your husband preoccupied with Leatherheads, you and the girls can get together and see Sex and the City. The movie chronicles the girls' lives five years after the show ended. We get to see how Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte have fared. Samantha is now living on the west coast with Smith and handling his PR. Even though she seems happy and in love, Samantha still misses her single life and hanging with her girls on the east coast. Miranda and Steve are living not-so-blissfully in Brooklyn. Steve's late night confession of a one time affair sends their marriage into a tailspin that they may not survive. Charlotte and Harry have adopted a wonderful girl from China and are enjoying their family of three. Carrie and Big were seen together at the end of the series finale, and have continued on over the last five years. They have finally reached a stage in their relationship where they are both ready to make the most important commitment of all, marriage. The movie gives all of the Sex and the City fans something more to nosh on in hopes that another movie will soon be in the works. The movie is rated R for strong sexual content, graphic nudity and strong language. It runs for 145 minutes.
The snacks that I have for today's post would be great for a movie night with the girls. All of the recipes were found at allrecipes.com.
Emily's Famous Popcorn
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3/4 cup unpopped popcorn
1/4 cup butter, melted (optional)
1/4 cup nutritional yeast
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
Directions:
Heat oil in a large saucepan or soup pot over medium-high heat. Add popcorn, and place the lid on the pan. Shake to coat kernels with oil. When the corn starts to pop, shake the pan constantly until the popping stops. Remove from heat, and pour popped corn into a large bowl.
Drizzle the melted butter over the corn if using, and sprinkle with yeast, chili powder, cumin and salt. I like to give it a little stir before serving.
Gourmet Chicken Pizza
Ingredients:
2 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
1 (10 ounce) can refrigerated pizza crust
1/2 cup Ranch-style salad dressing
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup chopped green onions
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Lightly grease a pizza pan or medium baking sheet.
Place chicken in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook until no longer pink, and juices run clear. Cool, then either shred or chop into small pieces.
Unroll dough, and press into the prepared pizza pan or baking sheet. Bake crust for 7 minutes in the preheated oven, or until it begins to turn golden brown. Remove from oven.
Spread ranch dressing over partially baked crust. Sprinkle on mozzarella cheese. Place tomatoes, green onion, and chicken on top of mozzarella cheese, then top with Cheddar cheese. Return to the oven for 20 to 25 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Of course, a bottle or two of wine to top things off. Enjoy!
