Recently, one of our dogs got into a fight and had to be taken to the vet. He's tired and sore, but will make a full recovery.
Shortly after the vet came to tell us Fox would be fine, I found myself picking up my camera and taking photos.
I photographed:
- Fox's injury
- the vet explaining the medications Fox would be taking
- Fox eating dinner.
And then, just before I went to bed, I photographed this:
Awwww…
Anyway, as I was taking the photos I started thinking about WHY I chose then — during a time that was unspeakably frightening for my husband and me — to pick up my camera. I realized I was taking photos to help me cope.
I didn't completely abandon my duties of supporting my husband and taking care of my dog; there was plenty of husband hugging and dog looking after.
But I also took the opportunity to work off some nervous energy and take a few pretty cool photos at the same time.
So what are some of the reasons YOU take photos, besides the obvious ones (birthdays, family fun, etc.)? And what are some of the good photos that have come as a result of the experience? I'd love to read and see all about them.
