After our first daughter was born, my husband and I were sure were the best parents ever because of all the hard work we put into parenting our first born baby, and what a good baby she was, we knew that we had the magic formula, and had done all things right.
Our second baby girl was born just 18 months after the first. She was a little feistier than the first, but still slept through the night at 13 weeks, according to our plan. We were awesome parents.
Both girls slept through the night by 13 weeks, walked by 12 months, potty trained by 24 months. We were awesome parents, we were sure of it.
Our third baby girl was born when the other girls were 3 and 5. She foiled all our plans, and went out of her way to prove that we were not indeed the “best parents ever.”
She did not sleep through the night until she was 4 years old. She didn’t walk until she was 22 months old. She did not potty train until she was 3 ½.
Isabelle is an amazing joy to our lives. She broke the mold and proved that we have so much more to learn than what we already know. Some things I have learned from my little “mold breaker”
· To never judge other parents
· To have compassion on other parents
· To not think so highly of myself and my awesome parenting skills
· To remember I will learn more about parenting my three girls every day. I have a lot yet to learn!
