Pantry Purging and Cool Containers

My favorite part of my home at the moment
(because we are renting while we build)is my pantry. Boooorrrring?
I think not! I was not always so in love with my pantry. It was messy, dirty
and unorganized until I discovered how amazing plastic containers could be!

plastic containers

This happened to me a few years ago, and as the days have gone by my plastic container collection has grown. It’s not the spoons, knives or mixing
apparatus that got me sucked in. It’s all the containers! It’s all those
stackable, neat, colour-coded, labelled containers!

When I
unpack the groceries, everything comes out of its box and goes straight into a
container.Yes, I know most of you are
rolling your eyes saying "Gee that is not normal, how does she find the
time, who could be bothered???" Well, I just can't help it. It feels soooo
good!

Start small, but think big. This task is
very achievable and really doesn’t require any skill or any talent. But first
things first – YOU HAVE TO EMPTY YOUR WHOLE PANTRY. Aaarrrrrrrr! Are you
yelling “Yeah right?” Do it, I dare you – your soul will feel cleansed.

Get
some garbage bags ready because I promise there will be things in there you
didn’t even know you had. How many half empty jars, sauces, spices will there
be? Oh the thought of all that makes me shudder to see what is lurking!

My Mum initially helped me with this task a
few years ago. She found a tin of curry powder that had a used by date of 1993.
Yep, I was still in high school, so how on earth did I have that in there? We
soon realised this was around the time my husband moved out of home and took
his mother’s curry powder. This had obviously followed us ever since. We rolled
around on the floor laughing! Sad to say but that curry powder would probably
still be in my cupboard if I hadn’t decided it was time to purge my pantry
(lucky I don’t cook much or I probably would have poisoned everyone).

It’s so easy – try it today! I would love
to see some photos of your pantry. Hey, you might even start on the fridge, too!

Katrina Chambers

My name is Katrina and I am a busy mummy to 3 gorgeous little boys and married to a hard-working bloke. I am Australian so you will probably notice my spelling is different! I am a typical Aussie and yes I tend to use a lot of the ‘Aussie slang’. Don’t be afraid to ask me what on earth I am talking about! I like to think I am up-with-the-times and would never leave the house without hair product in. I think I am hilariously funny but others would disagree I am sure. I work part-time at a building company and the rest of the time I spend at home ‘trying’ to decorate and be organised. We are about to embark on building yet another new house (if you get to know me well enough you will learn that I can tire of things very easily!). I will be sharing my journey of the building and decorating process over at my blog.
