We decided to make these quirky little paper bag pumpkins.
I opened a brown lunch bag and poked the four bottom corners inside to give the bottom of the bag a more roundish appearance. Then we crumpled up four sheets of paper from the recycle bin to stuff each of the bags. We twisted the top of the bag and wound a brown pipe cleaner around it.
After the girls finished painting and the paint was dry, I strung the pumpkins together with green pipe cleaners and draped them over the fire place.
Ta da! Pumpkin garland.

What a terrific idea! I think we'll make these for a party we're having next week! Thanks for the idea!
