Quick Bathroom Cleaning Tips

home Quick Bathroom Cleaning Tips

Among the many household chores, bathrooms always fall to the bottom of the list. Why? It’s a yucky job, but someone has to do it.

Here are some quick bathroom cleaning tips that you can incorporate into your daily routine. More importantly, your family can help make it even easier for you.

* Take all of the trash out of the bathroom and put it in the garbage can.
* Put all of the dirty clothes in the hamper
* Use disinfectant to clean the sink, tub and counter.
* Use a bathroom cleanser and your shower spray to clean the tile inside the shower stall.
* Scrub the inside and outside of the toilet bowl with cleaner and brush.
* Clean the outside of the toilet bowl with disinfectant.
* Use glass spray to clean the mirrors.
* Sweep then mop the floor.

You’re done! Great job!

Now let’s discuss how you can keep your bathroom at this level of cleanliness. After each shower, wash down the tiles with the shower hose, and use the disinfectant to clean the tub, sink, toilet bowl and counter. Ask your spouse to do the same, as well as your older children, if applicable. Ensure that the pail in the bathroom is lined with a plastic bag. This will make it easier for you to remove the trash.

Keep the cabinet under the sink tidy. Arrange the items so that you can easily retrieve them. Add hooks for your hair dryer, and any other appliance used. Buy a plastic box in your local dollar store, and put all of the small items in it such as, curlers, pins, hair ties, and do the same for other items you may keep in there. Line the cabinet with Con-Tac to enable you to simply wash it down when necessary.

Bathroom cleaning doesn’t have to be a chore; it can be as quick and easy as taking a shower!

  1. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE having a clean bathroom. But with two little ones running around the house, I prefer to use non-toxic cleaners, such as vinegar, lemon juice, and baking soda. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant, and neutralizes any "bathroomy" smells, and a great glass cleaner, plus at only $1.50 a gallon, you can't beat the price. Lemon juice is also a natural disinfectant, and is GREAT for cleaning off soap scum on the tile, and mineral deposits on the faucets. Baking soda is one of the best scrubbers and whiteners around. What I love best about all these things isn't the price (way cheaper than other "real" cleaning products), but that I don't worry about it affecting my kids, you know, like if the bathtub didn't get rinsed that well, or if my 1 yr old plays in the toilet water, or when he sucks on the spray bottle of full of vinegar, I don't have to call the Poison Control Center… :)

  2. Would you use the lemon juice at full strength, or can you dilute it a bit (to make the bottle go farther)? Anyone know?

I use vinegar, too. Works like a charm and now I actually equate the smell of it with cleanliness.

  4. I dilute the vinegar with 1 part vinegar, 2 parts water. I leave the lemon juice full strength, but you can get huge bottles of it at Costco for like $3/each.

  5. I'm a big fan of vinegar for cleaning as well as baking soda. For those that feel the need to disinfect, wipe the toilet seat, handle, sink handles, etc. with hydrogen-peroxide. (Also a good idea for the kitchen!)

  6. I keep extra empty trash bags inside of the bottom of the pail for easy replacement.

Also I add disinfectant to the bowl brush holder each week for a quick toilet scrub anytime it's needed without having to search for bowl cleaner.

I hope these tips are helpful. What a great post.

I find that it's easiest for my to clean the bathroom while my youngest children are taking a bath. As long as I'm not cleaning with super-toxic fumes, I can easily clean the toilet, floors and vanity while the kids play in the tub. That's been a big timesaver in my house!
