I have noticed lately that when my house is a mess, the rest
of my life follows. I don’t know how or why the parallel came about, but at
least I know it exists, so when the house in order, the universe tends to
follow suit.
Which leads me to my latest project: the living room. Hubs
and I rent a beautiful duplex in a historic area of town. I absolutely love
this house – the woodwork, the garden, and even my too-small kitchen. There is,
however, one thing that is making me nuts and that would be the living room. It
is larger than most living rooms and rectangular. We have tried every possible
furniture configuration and it never seems right.
Then, last week, in a sudden burst of helpfulness, Hubs
decided to throw me a bone and rearrange the living room to make it look nice
for my friends who were coming over. He took our well-loved sectional and broke
it out into two loveseats, forming a fabulous seating group, which is now
centered on the fireplace in the middle of one of the long walls. This is
exactly what I have always wanted for our cavernous living room.
