There are those days the alarm goes off, you hop out of bed, grab your workout gear and workout with total exuberance.
And then there's every single other day.
My friend in High School used to say, "I had a fight with my pillow and my pillow won." She wasn't much for working out first thing in the morning. Since I grew up and our family included more than just me being responsible for myself, I found that morning is the only time I may actually have a chance to workout. It's my time. If I'm lucky.
So, for those days, most days, I have three tips (no, wait, six, but I'm getting ahead of myself) to help get us motivated.
1. Sleep in your workout shirt.
- I know I KNOW. "Like, OMG, seriously? It's all sweaty and stuff." No, it's not. Not yet. But the warmth from your shirt and the "I don't want to get out of my PJs" feeling can't be an excuse if you're in a teeshirt you can wear to workout. Right? Slap on a bra and some pants and you're good to go.
2. Speaking of Bra and Pants, put those, with your shoes, next to your bed.
- If you see them sitting there and slap them on before you have time to think twice, it's hard to argue when you're already wearing your workout gear. Including shoes.
3. Create your workout plan the night before.
– If you're half asleep when you start working out (like I am) you'll wonder through the only half hour of your day that belongs to you. You'll be shocked at how quickly that half hour went and you'll end up finishing your workout without a single drop of sweat. So write down your plan. "Jumping rope, Yoga, Abs" or what have you. Get detailed. Get specific. Your body (and your mind) will thank you for it.
Ten minutes of planning the night before can make the difference between a succesful workout and another snooze alarm day.

Great tips- I'm so much in need of motivation! It's hot and gym memberships are too expensive… any suggestions on how to get a good routine going at home on your own?
