Summer Playgroups

Photobucket

Playgroups tend to be associated with younger kids, but now that school is almost out, there's no reason why you can't invite the moms of school aged kids to join in your playgroup fun!  Here are some activity ideas that would work with older kids or with groups of varying ages:

Visit a playground – bring along some chalk or kites or bubbles
Have a craft day – make the craft be pretty open ended, like making Father's Day cards, so that younger kids can participate as well
Have a baking day – each kid can make their own pizza or just decorate a cookie
Make it a growing experience – bring seeds, paper cups and soil and let each kid decorate a cup and plant a flower or some grass inside of it
Head to the zoo – a children's museum or aquarium would be fun too
Go for a nature walk - give the older kids a list of things to look for as they walk to slow them down a bit

What ideas do you have?  Please share!

  1. There are lots of great national organizations, but I have also found a big group of mommas through MeetUp.com. That is a great site to check because it is free.
