Survivor Gabon- Week 8

entertainment Survivor Gabon Week 8

The show opens this week with Randy expressing remorse over having to vote off Dan. Kota all begin to talk strategy assuming the merge is coming. They call Susie out for not being a team player. Susie foreshadows that she might try to become a power player post merge, which seems to mean taking more charge and stop following everything Marcus tells her to do.

Over at Fang, Sugar reveals that she trusts Kenny more than Ace and that is why she voted him off. Matty seems frustrated that he was left out of the loop. He worries that Crystal might be upset that he voted for him. They seem to welcome him back into their alliance with no hard feelings. Kenny assures everyone that he has a plan to survive the merge because Sugar has the idol. Fang gears up for the merge feast which should be a welcome relief from all the starvation.

As Corrinne and Marcus head to get tree mail, Corrinne talks revenge to get back at Suzie . Both tribes get word through tree mail that the merge is here and they gear up for the feast. New Kota and new Fang both vow to stick with their respective tribes. Fang FINALLY gets to eat.

Kenny sees a note declaring there is a hidden immunity idol hidden under a bowl and tries to keep it on the down low, but Charlie calls him out and reads it to the entire group. The idol is hidden right next to where they are eating and Randy and Marcus set up the tribe to look for it and throw it in the ocean so it isn’t in play. Randy finds it right away and sets it in the middle of the table and says whoever wants it can grab it. No one does so Randy and Marcus throw it out to sea, cockily saying that now nothing stands in the way of the Kota tribe taking out the Fang tribe. Randy gives a soliloquy on why he is the King of the island. Classic.

There is a box that the tribe is to open when dinner is finished. In it there are 10 numbered stones which each person must pull out of the bag. After they do that the next note tells them they are in 2 new tribes (Bet Randy and Marcus feel pretty stupid right now). Odd numbers= Fang, Even numbers= Kota. They are to collect their new buffs and return to camp.

New Kota= Bob, Marcus, Susie, Crystal and Kenny

New Fang= Randy, Charlie, Corrine, Matty and Sugar

Marcus states that he has great relationships and didn't need the immunity idol because the Kota six still have a majority on each tribe. He is confident he will get to the end of the game. Hmm….

Crystal and Marcus find out they know the same person back in the states. Marcus’ best friend is Crystal’s cousin. Marcus decides he needs to change loyalty a bit and keep Crystal around to honor his friendship back home. Crystal tells Marcus that she won’t write his name down, but then says off camera that she is just playing the game.

New Fang tribe begins to strategize. Corrine and Charlie want to get out Matty for his strength. Matty doesn’t trust Randy so he heads out to talk to Sugar. He sets Sugar straight about Ace and Sugar feels bad she voted him out. Matty and Sugar strengthen their alliance and agree to watch each other’s back.

Marcus gets frustrated with Susie admitting that she might flip. She recognizes, wisely, that even if the Kota six stays together until the end, she will be the first to go. Marcus doesn’t even try to deny that fact giving Susie even more reason to flip.

Randy contemplates throwing the challenge so that they can get rid of Matty to spar the other tribe from “crazy Susie”.  Immunity challenge is an endurance challenge holding up two posts. Although immunity is for the whole tribe each person is responsible for their own post. So whoever is left standing at the end wins immunity for their whole tribe.

Crystal is out immediately. Sugar follows shortly after. Then Susie, Randy, Corrine and Kenny. Marcus and Charlie get out leaving Matty and Bob to fight it out. Matty starts talking trash, which seems to make him vulnerable as he loses concentration. But in the end, it pays off and Matty wins immunity saving his heiny from elimination.

Marcus wants to vote out Kenny and then swap Crystal for Susie in the “Kota 6”. He comes to Susie with his plan to vote out Kenny. Susie decides to stick with Marcus cause he assures her he will bring her to the top 3. Crystal pulls her aside and tells her what Marcus told her that Susie will be the first to go in a merge. Susie appears conflicted going into tribal council. But once she gets there, and Jeff questions her, she says she is confident in her decision.

In my opinion this was the smartest move made this whole game. She flips on Marcus and votes him out. Another blindside and a chance for Susie to assert herself as a power player after all. Well played Susie.
