One of my main goals as a parent & a homeschooler is to make sure my children realize there is life outside these United States. As a missionary kid, I've had the privilege of living in several different countries. The world is BIG with lots of needs we can meet and with lots of things from which we must learn.

You can help your children foster a global perspective & teach social studies at the same time:
- This site is a great place to start.
- Choose an area of the world (for us it was Africa). Read the selection about the country & pray per the suggestions (if you're inclined).
- Print each country's flag (Awesome flag site) & have your student color it. Cut them out & hang them up. Clothespins & a string work great.
- Find the country on a world map
- Talk about the people, the language, the capital, etc. See where the discussion takes you.
Great tools! And Free too!
