Praise- Our Most Powerful Tool.

Marriage_thank_you_note

Do you want to ensure that your husband will try more and more to make you happy? The secret is being appreciative. The more we praise our husbands, the more they work to make us happy.

When we first fall in love, our men could do no wrong. Everything he did was wonderful in our eyes. When we are newly in love we show appreciation for everything. Men thrive on praise. A man will climb Mt. Everest in his birthday suit to keep the words of appreciation coming.

What happens after a few years? Stress happens! Babies cry, the bills keep coming and the pressures of daily life can cause us to lose sight of the importance of appreciation. As the level of stress in our lives increase we are less likely to spend time looking at our blessings.

The emotional state of marriage, like everything  else in life, fluctuates constantly. A wonderful tool we all hold is the ability to build up our husbands.  It is as simple as looking for those everyday behaviors we sometimes take for granted.

Here are some ideas:

  • "Thanks for always _____ (insert mundane household duty here)."
  • "The car looks great. Thanks for washing it."
  • "Thanks so much for _____ (insert something from the day)."

The goal is to show appreciation for the ordinary. The more praise a man receives, the more he will work to get more. If a man feels like nothing he does is appreciated, he will lose all motivation to try to make his wife happy.

So do yourself and your husband a favor this week. Everyday look for three things to praise. By the end of the week your efforts will pay off tenfold!
