The Wedded Bliss 7 Day Sex Challenge

Yes, you read that right. I'm challenging our married readers (and writers!) to have sex with your husband every day this week, starting today. It's a new month, last week's holiday craziness is over and I'd even venture to guess that you and your husband could use a little, um, stress relief. Working off the inspiration of last week's post about the challenge Pastor Ed Young gave to his congregation, I thought what could be more Blissfully Domestic than sex every day for a week?

Now I know you all know that sex is good for marriage, how it creates an emotional bond, and keeps the romance alive in your relationship. This is no longer a secret in our "modern" society. There are books and lectures and videos and Oprah shows about sex in marriage and its benefits. But just in case you need a little more inspiration, check out these scientifically proven benefits from WebMD:

  1. Sex boosts your immune system – who couldn't use that this time of year?
  2. Sex burns calories – remember last week's feast? What better way to burn off that extra piece of pumpkin pie?
  3. Sex relieves stress by lowering blood pressure – see, I knew what I talking about!
  4. Sex reduces pain – sorry, no "I have a headache tonight" excuses! The release of the hormone oxytocin during sex helps increase endorphins which decreases pain.
  5. Sex improves heart health – there's also a study that says drinking pomegranate juice not only helps fight heart disease, in men, but also gives them an amorous boost! So have a pomegranate juice toast before you head to the bedroom.
  6. Sex helps you sleep better – that oxytocin hormone aka "the love hormone" that surges through your body as you orgasm also promotes sleep which helps maintain a healthy blood pressure and assists your body with weight maintenance. Hmmm…I see a trend here!
