Three Rules of Viral Marketing

blogging Three Rules of Viral Marketing

Traditional media – newspaper, television and radio have always been about advertisers interrupting people to get them to patronize the companies they represent. Most of us have learned to tune the advertisements out or turn them off.

Social media tools like blogging, social networks, and audio and video have turned everything around. Now people must be engaged at their interest level, or not at all.

  1. People don't buy your product for what is does – but for what they do with it.
  2. You've probably heard that people don't buy quarter inch drill bits, what they really want is a 1/4" hole. What is your prospect buying when they purchase your product or service?

  3. Make your message memorable.
  4. Your product is more memorable if your message allows someone to imagine how they'll feel using it. For example, whose chicken is "finger lickin' good"?

  5. Make your message easy for your clients to remember and repeat to others.

Viral marketing isn't about what YOU say, but what people say for you.

What are your prospects and customers saying about you?
