Two Trees, Four Seasons: Documenting with Photos

photography Two Trees, Four Seasons: Documenting with Photos

My husband and I live near Stone Mountain in Georgia and spend a lot of time hiking there.

Last spring, I decided I was going to take a photo in a particular spot around one of the lakes, in order to see how the scene changed over the seasons.

The photo above was my spring photo. Then I had to figure out how to remember where to stand to take the "same" photo over the next few months.

If you're photographing your child in a particular chair or with a particular stuffed animal each month, it's not quite as hard to remember. Figuring out where to stand in the wide-open spaces of nature proved to be more problematic.

Eventually, however, I learned that standing just to the right of a particular root would get me pretty much the same shot every time.

These are all four shots.

I'm pretty pleased with how the project turned out. This is a project I plan on continuing. Next, I'm looking forward to seeing how the same scene looks each same season over a number of years. Stay tuned.

I am married to my best friend. That sounds cheesy, but it's true. I love photography, reading, and napping (but not necessarily in that order).
