Typography in Decorating

Something about the simplicity of a typed letter or number is appealing. The shape, the curves and the straight lines working together. A letter or a number is quite graphic in nature. It is sort of like abstract art. Using typography in decorating can really add some punch to your space.

For example, look at this great idea for organizing a bathroom full of boys. It's as simple as purchasing a few house numbers from the local hardware store and mounting them to the wall above hooks. Sure, you could just use the hooks, but the numbers give the whole thing a little more interest, not to mention the fact that they keep the boys from using one another's towels.

Of course, the monogram is a perennial favorite in decorating. Although monograms are considered very traditional, there are so many different takes on the monogram in today's decorating that there is something for just about every style.

This headboard uses the traditional form of the monogram with the first name represented by the letter on the left, the middle name represented by the letter on the right and the surname represented by the larger letter in the center.

Frame a word, a phrase, a single letter. Using different fonts and sizes will add interest. Personalize your space with your monogram, your lucky number, or a secret code. It's up to you. With typography, the possibilities are endless!

Cute, I love the numbers for identifying whose towel hangs where. You could save a load of laundry that way! Excellent idea!
