Basically the premise was that if he doesn't give love, it's likely because you're not giving him respect and vice versa, as men would rather (typically) have respect than love. We (women) expect to receive unconditional love but often aren't willing to give unconditional respect. Often if we respect them, even if we don't think they deserve it, they become the men that DO deserve it. Such a valuable lesson...and one that best not to learn the hard way!
