Boost Your Immune System

Ways to Stay Healthier Longer

It's that time of year again: the youngings head back to school, the leaves begin to turn and beyond a shadow it's a jumpstart to the flu-germ-virus-bacteria season. That's right. You name it, you can contract it.

Swine Flu. Bird Flu. THE Flu–our bodies have their work cut out for them. So why not do ALL we can to give our bodies ALL the help it needs–why not help BOOST your immune system?

Boosting your body's immune system isn't a complex, tedious or frivolous process. With a few simplistic additions to your lifestyle, you can strengthen your body's defenses and stay healthier longer. Here's how:

  • Eat garlic ~ Vampires aren't the only creatures afraid of garlic–so are germs. Allicin, the active ingredient in garlic is known to fight off infection and bacteria. Some research suggests that people who eat garlic are 2/3 less likely to catch a cold.
  • Drink tea ~ for all you coffee lovers out there this may be a little hard to swallow. But researchers suggest that drinking black tea several times a day helps boost infection-fighting properties in the body.
  • Get rest ~ when we're feeling run-down or exhausted, we're more likely to be prone to infection or sickness. Keeping the body well rested and well-fed goes along way to giving the body the energy and nutrients it needs to ward off any germ attack.
  • Have Chicken Soup ~ It's been said for generations that chicken soup helps the body fight off a cold–now science confirms it. Research confirms that chicken soup consumption helps the body relieve itself of fluid build up in the chest and nose.

With a little modification and commitment, you can help your body boost it's defenses so that it well equipped to fight against infection and sickness.
