To me lampshades are like hats. They can say so much about your style, even though they are one of the smaller details in a room.
I am always looking for ways to change the look of a lampshade with small, simple, and inexpensive details.
Here are some of my most recent favorites…
The Threaded Ribbon Lamp Shade

To create a lampshade similar to the one shown all you need is the following:
*Paper lampshade (this one has a thin layer of fabric over the top of the paper base)
* Single Hole Punch (fairly sharp if you are doing this to a lampshade with the fabric layer)
* Ribbon (no bigger than 5/8" is recomended
*Hot Glue
*Vintage Button
*Tape Measure
*Pencil
Use your tape measure to evenly space out your holes. Mark the places where you want to the punch holes with your pencil, the go to town.
Thread ribbon through holes and tie in front (I brought both ribbon ends through one hole in front and knotted the ribbon together.)
Hot Glue the ribbon bow or knot to the lamp, and then Hot Glue the Vintage Button on top of the ribbon knot, or in the middle of the bow.
Voila! An adorable lampshade!
The Clip It On Special

This is the simplist of all lamp projects. All you need are the following:
* Any size or style of lampshade (this one is a Simply Shabby shade from Target)
*1 Pack of Curtain Ring Clips (style, size and color up to you!)
* Decorative Ribbon
* Items to Hang (I used colorful cookie cutters, but you could use almost anything – seashells, mini tea-cups, vintage jewelery, let your imagination run wild !)
Simply clip the curtain rings around the bottom edge of the lampshade, and then tie decorative items to the clips using your ribbon. Ta da! A brand new lampshade!
