After Sun Care

beauty After Sun Care

We all know the benefits of wearing sunscreen especially this time of year.  It protects our skin from harmful rays even in the shade.  But what should you do when you find that you've gotten a little too much sun even with sunscreen protection?  Check out these tips for easy after-sun care:

  • Use a cool compress made from equal parts milk and water.  Apply for 15 minutes over 2-3 hours.
  • Try a soaking in a cool bath.  Avoid scrubbing the skin.
  • Moisturize with an after sun product containing aloe.  Many are available and come in lotion and gel form.
  • Drink water to avoid dehydration.
  • Take an aspirin or ibuprofen to help with pain.

Remember, even with proper precautions it's still possible to get singed or sunburned when outside.  Trying some of these simple tips will go a long way to easing discomfort.  Be sure to see your doctor if the sunburn is severe or begins to blister.
