My favorite line was "I may not be his biological mother, but I am still his mom." This is exactly how I feel about my (step) son. I married his dad (who has residential custody) & became son's extra mom when he was 4 1/2 and he is "my" baby. :) All four of us parents go to his open house, P-T confs and school events...makes for quite a group!
