Back Seat Driver

faith Back Seat Driver Many have said that we, as Believers, seem to assume the driver seat in life and leave God in the trunk, only using Him as a spare tire. Some let Him 'direct' them from the back seat, and some don't let Him anywhere near the car to begin with. Recently, however, God has shown me that He is always in the driver's seat, we just continue to be back seat drivers. We try to pull rank on God, unbuckle, and attempt to reach over that back seat and take hold of the wheel. We become so consumed with trying to drive the car of our lives all on our own.

No matter where we go, what road we take, God is always in the driver's seat. When we realize that reaching across that seat is too cumbersome for us to deal with and we sit back and let go, God shows us that no matter which road we took while we were back seat driving, He is always in charge.

In His sovereignty, He allows us to take the wheel when we insist, but He still has us right where He wants us. Just as when Jonah ran from God, He knew right where Jonah was the whole time. No matter how hard Jonah tried to hide and go in the opposite direction, God had Him in His hand and guided Him to where He wanted Him. Even when Eve insisted on eating that fruit, God knew what was to take place and He allowed it. Joseph's brothers rejected him, but he still had God's blessings on his life. God is able to take what we, or others, do and turn it around for good.

If you realize that you are becoming a back seat driver, just let go and sit back. God knows where He's taking you. Let Him drive.

Proverbs 16:9, "A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps."

I am a ministry wife and homeschooling mom with three online ministries, women, girls, and homeschooling.I began writing in journals as a young girl and jumped on the blogging bandwagon and found my niche for writing. I am a public speaker in Northern California for local ministries and am the Director of a recovery home for broken women ( http://thesarahhome.com ) desiring to establish and enhance their relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and experience healing of the heart. The greatest part of my testimony is seeing God transform my husband's life from Addiction to Recovery Pastor and our freedom from nearly 15 years of legalism and spiritual abuse. Our faith in Christ and reliance upon Him has been explosive. :O)
