Back to School Tips: Dealing with Food Allergies and School

school lunch food allergy

Thankfully, my children have grown out of their food allergies. I remember, though, how worried I had been about sending them to school where I would have little control over what foods were present. I was afraid of putting them in a situation where someone else would have to be responsible for administering the epi-pen if necessary. It was frightening.

What can you do to ensure your child's safety when it comes to food allergies and school? How can you be sure his/her teachers are aware of the allergies and are being proactive in keeping allergens from your child?

Check out this article, Food Allergic Children and Schools,  to see what you can do to prepare yourself, your child and his/her teachers.

Hope this academic year is full of safe food,  fun, and learning!
