Best Books for Homeschool Moms

education Best Books for Homeschool Moms

When asked for my best tip for new homeschooling moms, I always say, "Read, read, read!"  And, not to the kids.  I think one of the best things that any new homeschooling mom — or the veteran who needs a boost — can do is read a great book about homeschooling.

For new homeschooling moms, I always recommend reading at least one book based on each of the major styles of homeschooling. Even if you don't think that particular style is a good fit for your family, you can almost always glean something useful — and you may even discover that the style you thought would never suit your family is a better fit than you imagined.

Some of my favorite homeschooling books are:

Homeschooling: The Early Years by Linda Dobson (a great overview of homeschooling in general)

The Unschooling Handbook by Mary Griffith

A Charlotte Mason Education by Catherine Levinson

The Well-Trained Mind by Jessie Wise and Susan Wise Bauer

The Relaxed Home School by Mary Hood

What are some of your favorite homeschool reads?
