Last week we talked briefly about the importance of laying a strong foundation for our writing by brushing up on some simple rules of usage. There are many books available but many of us agreed that Strunk & White's book is among the best.
So this week one lucky reader will win their very own copy of The Elements of Style!

Just leave a comment telling us what your writing goals are. Is it a novel? Want to start a freelance career? Whatever it is, we'd love for you to share it with us!
The winner will be announced on Monday, November 9!

I'd love to write a book, or even some magazine articles, on the how-to's of cookie decorating!
I would love to write convincing editorials. Clean, to the point, and relevant writing.
Great goals ladies! And I would be very interested in reading both of your work! Why not take the first step and research the markets available for the type of work you want to do? We'll be getting into this a little later on in the week!
I would love to do some freelance writing!
Thanks for the opportunity to win this book! My writing goals are varied depending on the medium. First, I am a marketing pro so I wish to improve my media writing and web writing for my "day job". Second, I love blogging and I would like to increase readership on my blog so I need to learn more about writing content and how to know what attracts readers. Additionally, my blog's current purpose is merely for my own personal pleasure and really it just serves as a tool to connect me to the blogworld and journal my own thoughts. I like to keep it simple because my "day job/career" is already too complicated.
Someday I'd love to write a novel, it's been a life long pursuit. But right now I'm concentrating on my blog for practice and growth.

I'd love to write a novel one day, it's been a life long pursuit of mine. For now I'm focusing on my blog for practice and growth.
Thank you for hosting this giveaway! I am a budding freelancer – presently researching my first four articles. Winning this sure would save me buying it!
Funny, I'd actually give this to my husband. He's been toying with the idea of writing since our daughter was dx with cancer in 2007. He is a SAHD with great wit and wisdom. He has been the writer for her caringbridge site to keep family and friends informed about her journey and has gotten a lot of praise to keep writing more! I want to encourage him as much as possible and hope that something like this would help!
I would really enjoy doing freelance writing – maybe just writing reviews, or a 'how-to' book.
I think I'd like to do some freelance writing. I write technical reports for a living, so I enjoy doing other types of writing.
Wow. This would be awesome! I'm very interested in book writing – since I was about 11 I've had the goal to write a book. And I have a story idea – one that my DH even thinks would be great. I'm just too scared to do it! :+ any help I could get would be greatly appreciated!
Great book! I'd love to do freelance writing!

I am back in college at age 38 to finish my Bachelors degree and have just started my Senior Research class. We have 21 weeks to write a 50-page research paper, so I can guarantee that The Elements of Style would be very useful for this process! Thanks for the chance to win (and fingers crossed!)
I want to write someday, possibly a novel, definitely some spirituality books for women and relationships.
I would like to become a freelance writer and eventually (maybe) publish a children's devotional.
I tweeted!
