Our soldiers always deserve an extra measure of bragging yet this soldier went above and beyond the call of duty! Tammy, military wife and blogger extraordinaire, brings us this week's brag on him.
My husband and I have been together for 11 years and we've certainly have had our ups and down. Right now is one of those times, where life is difficult. You see my husband, a SGT in the US Army, is serving in Operation Enduring Freedom. Yep – that's right he is deployed to Afghanistan until summer 2010.
My husband, let's call him SGT Daddy for his own safety and security, is not only my husband but he is my hero and best friend. He always knows what I need and when I need it. Yes – I freely admit I'm spoiled by him. I thought that once he was deployed that would all come to a screeching halt.
The deployment has been really hard on all of us, including him. I was having a particular tough week dealing with all that was coming at me and I was missing him terribly. He and I of course talked about this and he knew that things were getting to me.
So here I am in our little house in Colorado and there's the UPS guy at the door… I thought – hmmm I didn't order anything lately. I look at the label and it was addressed to me from a company called PajamaGram.com. I open the box and find the cutest military camo pajamas ever! I find a note from my husband that says – "Was going to get you a uniform but decided on something that would fit you better!" I was floored and so surprised. He managed to completely surprise me all the way from Afghanistan.
I couldn't believe that a half a world away in a warzone , he was able to take the time to send me a gift ! It wasn't our anniversary and it certainly wasn't a " I'm in trouble with my wife" type of gift. It was simply a "just because I love you" gift.
Isn't he the greatest?? I certainly think so!
