What do you do when you have a window in a awkward place and there is a less than perfect view?
There was no leaving it "naked," it is right above the toilet. I thought about hanging curtains….but been there done that. I just wanted something different.
Thought about blinds, which would of been fine, but not fun.
Here's my solution — I had a pretty mirror just sitting all alone in the back of my guest closet, so I decided to put it to good use.

Here's what I did –
- For .69 cents a foot I bought 6 feet of heavy chain
- Opened one link and attached it to the hooks already on the back of the mirror
- Mounted ceiling hooks- about 3 inches in from the sides of the ceiling– so the mirror was not touching the back wall.
- Applied some privacy paper to the window {so when you are outside your view isn't the back of the mirror}
- Hooked the chain on the ceiling hooks- and that was it!
I love how the little alcove is flooded with light and it gives the little space a "Royal" feeling- This is stage one for this little area – art work, and a chandelier are next. It's all about decorating in stages as you can afford it!

Happy Day!

That is a cute idea! I will keep that in mind for a future project. Thanks for sharing!
you are seriously so creative, i love how it turned out. like you said luxurious.
Honestly, Teresa!!!! How do you ever keep coming up with these brilliant ideas???? Looks fabulous!
LOVE the idea, Teresa. Thanks!!!
I don't know if your brain just thinks this way or not…but it's amazing to me, because I don't "see" it…."get" it…or have a "knack" for it. I guess that's why it's good to share. Sharp idea.
Love how you think "out of the box" !
Love this
It's so hard to know what to do with those teeny windows over the toilets! Most of the time I end up shoving a big plant in the window sill- I like your idea much better
I love that you get a reflective view with natural "back-lighting." Leave it to you to come up with another Teresa-original. What an inspired idea! LOVE IT!
Where are you when I need you hanging on my shoulder tell me what to do and I'm sure the boys will love it when they go – heehee…..
This is just the idea I was waiting for!
Thanks Teresa
It looks like Pam already went down that road, so hopefully I won't be too tacky if I tell you I also had the idea to put a mirror over the toilet. DH mentioned that for a man, it was kind of strange to have a mirror there, but it looked so cute (although yours looks better!) I left it up. I just didn't think it was that big a deal. Until the next time we had another couple over for dinner, when the male half of the couple came out of the bathroom giving my husband strange looks. I was mortified and took the mirror down that night–I guess, for me, that was a good idea gone very, very wrong! He still teases us about that mirror.
=)
I thought about the "man" issue….so the mirror hangs just high enough to keep everything safe =)
Plus it is in a bathroom where only the man of the house enters.
Thanks for sharing your story, I can see where it may worry some.
Thanks for stopping by.
