Usually I resort to turning over quilts and sofa covers (that cover scratches on the sofa, of course) to hide all the impossible-to-remove-completely cat hairs, general sweeping (much faster than taking out the vacuum cleaner) and praying none of the guests is allergic. Even so, the cats will somehow manage to break open the rubbish bin, overturn the water bowl and smash something valuable as soon as guests come through the door. Attention whores? Hardly! I’m afraid I’ve given up on the cats.
