Creating a Home Management Notebook

parenting Creating a Home Management Notebook

I love being organized. It makes me so happy to know there's a place for everything and everything is in its place. Problem is…my life is ridiculously hectic what with 4-year old triplets and all. I know. Go figure! There are days (lots of them) when I feel completely overwhelmed by the day-to-day task of keeping our household running smoothly.

Some time back, I created my own "home management notebook." I went out and bought a fabulous Moleskine journal, set it up with little post-it tags for various sections and am quickly filling it up with wonderful things like menu lists, family budget, calendars, inspirations, Todoodlist, contacts, gift-buying guide, etc. I love holding that notebook. It makes me feel like I've got it together. And though I'm likely fooling no one but myself, I still enjoy the thrill of feeling in control of my life and home!

  1. I too love my household notebook and I encourage everyone to create one. You can check out some of my thoughts about these notebooks on my blog if you want! (Click my name for the link)

  2. Oh I love this article. I have tried many times to create one but never have finished because of my perfectionism. I have discovered that without one my life is chaotic to the place where I don't like myself or my home. This is not the mother & wife I want to be. So I was doing a little research and stumbled across this. Great post, now I'm off to check the links. BTW, I had a routine that worked wonders the first year and a half with the triplets. My house stayed tidy and my kids were happy & healthy. I want to get back to this place of peace and I believe what is missing is a workable routine!

Thanks so much from one triplet mom to another!
