Creating an Easy Time Capsule for the New Year

Our New Year's celebrations are full of lazy people laying around watching parades and football, eating posole (a shout-out to our New Mexico days), and un-decorating my Christmas weary house. We're regular party animals.

But this year, I thought it would be fun to make a Time Capsule with our kids. And I found a great plan for one on Kaboose, using a leftover cookie tin.

Here's what we're planning on doing:
  1. Eat all the cookies out of the tin and clean it up. This could be my favorite part.
  2. Collect some photographs, newspaper and magazine clippings with things we liked in 2008.

We'll add report cards, drawings and notes to each other.art and crafts Creating an Easy Time Capsule for the New Year

And then each person will
  • draw a self portrait
  • jot down what's important to them NOW
  • include a few New Year's resolutions
And then decorate the tine with stickers and paint pens!  We might even bury it in our backyard.

  1. What a cute idea! I've always wanted to make a time capsule, but we've never done it.

Will you see the new Twilight movie New Moon on Friday?
