Dry Skin Care Step 3

Environmental ProtectionSun light, harsh climates and exposure to chemicals are never good for your skin. Sunlight causes wrinkles and age spots, even the softer winter sun.  The key points here are:

  1. Wear sunscreen every day
  2. Apply antioxidant products for protection and repair, and
  3. Use barrier protecting ingredients when you’re in harsh conditions.

The sun has 2 types of damaging (wrinkle/age spot/cancer causing) rays: UVA and UVB. UVB rays are strongest in the summer and mid day.  UVA rays are as strong in winter as they are in summer.  They feel softer, but they aren’t.  UVA penetrates deeply into the skin causing permanent damage and wrinkles. If you want to slow down wrinkles, you have  to block UVA!  This means using a strong broad spectrum sunscreen on exposed skin… every day, all year.  In my opinion, the science clearly shows that the best UVA (and UVB) protection comes from products with micro sized zinc oxide (it must be 5 % or more).  My favorites are Citrix Sun Screen, Glycolyx Elite Sunscreen or Solbar Zinc.

Antioxidant science has made huge breakthroughs in the past few years.  In my opinion, applying a ‘ high tech’ antioxidant skin care products really will give you healthier skin! My favorite antioxidant ingredient is green tea polyphenols and I think the best green tea product is Replenix CF Cream. I also recommend CRS Cell Rejuvenation Serum, one of the only vitamin C products with stable vitamin C.

Barrier protecting ingredients slow water loss and chapping or irritation during contact with harsh climates, soaps or chemicals.  Here I like products with dimethicone or simethicone such as Intensive Hand Cream and CRS Cell Rejuvenation Serum.
