If you're hooked on houses like I am, then you may have found yourself willingly sitting through otherwise dull, poorly acted, or just-plain-awful movies, as long as the action takes place in a house that you like to look at. Right?
Some of my favorite "movie houses" include Iris's English cottage in "The Holiday:"

The rambling Victorian in the Julia Roberts-Susan Sarandon movie "Stepmom:"

And the eye-popping medieval manor home used as the setting for Masterpiece Theatre's recent version of "Jane Eyre:"

Some of my other favorites include the little yellow house in "Housesitter," the stone farmhouse in "Christmas in Connecticut," and the Vermont Inn from "White Christmas."
I know my daughter Lily is taking after me already. She was watching a Halloween episode of "Tom and Jerry" that took place in a haunted mansion, and I tried to turn it off, thinking the ghosts and monsters might scare her. "Stop!" she cried. "I want to see this house they're in. Isn't it pretty? Look at that big chandelier!"
What are the movies you watch for the scenery?
Julia blogs about houses at Hooked on Houses and especially enjoys "Movie Mondays," in which she features homes from films like these. Click here to see the sets from "The Parent Trap," "Gone with the Wind," "Grey Gardens," and more.

I have this obsession with Whitehall Palace so I watch the Tudors and even though much of it is CG (sans their garden "mall" walking) I love to pretend that one day I can go there and see it!.
Ditto on The Holiday, though.
So funny! "The Holiday" for me, too! And on TV I love "Samantha Who"'s apartment and Katherine Heigl's in "27 Dresses"! Actually-I love the choice of paint…weird!!!!!
I think it was Alvin & the Chipmunks….I am embarrassed to say, I was coveting the neighborhood….might have been Garfield, but I think it was the chipmunks. (I have a 10 y. o., I promise!)
Oooh! The Holiday! Love all of the houses in it: Kate's, Cameron's, and Jude's houses. I also loved Carrie's apartments in the Sex and the City movie, houses/estates in Jane Austen movies, Diane Keaton's house in Something's Gotta Give, and the Cullen's house in Twilight. *drool*
This is so me…thank goodness for DVR and pausing!!! Except I loved Cameron Diaz's house in the movie.
I also loved their apartment in "P.S. I Love You." I think it was her pillows!
